Talent Explained
Founded on the idea that musical talent can be explained to anyone, SFIM is a classical musical school focused on teaching children that playing an instrument can be an easy and naturally expressive art. Years of dedicated research of the methods and techniques of talented players has allowed us to share these techniques with our students. Music theory is highly incorporate and monthly performance from our students is held to strengthen and their confidence in their abilities. We find the best time to acquire this talent is at a young age which is why we focus on students aged 7 to 18.
Our Philosophy
Since 2002 our school has been helping students in the Bay Area to reach an expert skill level by the age of eighteen. We believe this gives them the freedom to continue their musical development on a purely artistic level, due to their mastery of technique.
Along with notion that talent can be explained, we believe that to learn a student must feel safe psychologically. Through our system of music lessons we seek to motivate, not intimidate, our students. Also, of equal importance, is a good relationship between teachers and parents, an essential ingredient in helping our students develop. We view teaching students as a serious trust and responsibility.
What do we Teach?
Although we are trained professionals in many classical instruments, SFIM focuses on specific instruments such as the violin, cello and piano. The SFIM Method teaches students the technical and musical approach of the great masters from the beginning of their studies.
Our teachers are all performers. They can do what they ask students to do. Performance enhances teaching; they complement one another. We have designed our program to ensure that students will have a deep, practical understanding of the art of music.
Classes are held between 3pm and 8pm Tuesday to Friday, and 8:30am to 6:30pm on Saturdays.
